A Memorable Experience

Today started out as a really good day, I woke up, got ready, and woke up josh with a hug and a few kisses. I went downstairs to put last night's dinner in a container for Josh and I to take to work while Josh got ready. Josh came downstairs in a rush and told me to go start the car while he packed up his stuff for school. We had gotten about 3-4 inches of snow so before I started the car I brushed off all the snow and ice that had stuck to the car. Josh came outside right as I finished, I pushed in the clutch and stuck the key in the ignition. However, the car was in first gear and the E brake wasn't on. (we can't put on the E-brake until we get our car fixed, we've been having problems with the stuff down by the tires/brakes) I turned the key and let go of the clutch. The car lurched forward and started rolling toward's our neighbor's old time slug bug. Josh's face looked horrified! I panicked and tried to find the brake with my right foot while trying to stop the car with my left foot dragging in the snow :) I only had about 5 seconds before the hit but it felt longer. Meanwhile Josh is yelling stop stop stop! I finally found the brake right as we hit. The car hit the slug bug and pushed it into their other car. It was dead silent as I peeked out of the door to see Josh's reaction. He wasn't mad (I have the sweetest husband!) I went into the house and started to cry, Josh came in and sat next to me at the table. He was quiet for a few minutes while I cried and then he said "well......at least you didnt hit the accelerator!"....I sat there for a minute and then let out a little laugh. That taught me that even though I hit the neighbors car, it could have been worse. What was at the time a horrible experience later on in the day turned into a funny memory that Josh and I will probably relate to time and time again in the future

This is how far the car traveled before it hit :)

The aftermath, Not bad except for the two tiny, tiny exaust pipes that you can see between the two cars at the bottom which chipped off the paint on Josh's mustang. The bug's bumber was pinched in pretty bad but the neighbor said that it was already like that so no harm done.
